GEICO - GEICO's Annual Road Race Raises More Than $45,000 for Special Olympics Georgia
2010 MAY 7 - (VerticalNews.com) -- Local Macon area runners covered nearly 2,300 miles last month in the 27th Annual GEICO Road Race to benefit Special Olympics Georgia. Together, the 585 runners - including 157 associates from GEICO - raised over $45,000. The public is invited to the check presentation ceremony on Tuesday, April 27, 10 a.m., at GEICO's 4400 Ocmulgee East Blvd. location. Georgia Milton-Sheats, CEO of Special Olympics Georgia, said, "The support that GEICO has given our local program is remarkable. Special Olympics is fortunate to have this ongoing relationship with GEICO and its terrific volunteers who have helped raise more than $600,000 during the past two decades. 2010 APR 30 - (VerticalNews.com) -- GEICO recently partnered with the national program, Recycled Rides™, to provide used vehicles to three local families (two from Long Island and one from Brooklyn) who could use the reliable transportation. The vehicles were presented to the three families during a recent ceremony attended by New York Assemblyman Dean Murray. GEICO donated the used vehicles while local National Auto Body Council (NABC) body shops donated their repair services.
